 Conner Asks the mare to join his herd and he will protect her newborn foal. 

"Thankfully, Conner is wise to the wolves' hunting tactics, and a little distraction like that doesn't keep his eyes off the most vulnerable target. He sees another three wolves charge at the mare and her new filly. There's no time to lose, so Conner charges towards them. One of them has the sense to run. The second decides to test Conner's mettle, and gets a good kicking for it. The third is fought off by Conner's dutiful herd members.
Meanwhile, Quinn and Reed have managed to see off the other two. It's evident one of the wolves has sustained a few injuries from Reed's horns. With all the wolves gone, the herd can now focus their attention on the mother and daughter. She looks up at the group, gratitude in her eyes. She thanks Conner and his friends, although is still evidently tired and tetchy, but explains that her previous lead stallion kicked her out after discovering she was pregnant, since he had already caught her spending time with another stallion."
